Barunga Voice Statement

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples should be aware that this website may contain images of deceased persons in photographs.

Located 80 kilometres southeast of Katherine – the Barunga Voice Declaration was signed by over 200 delegates from all four Northern Territory Land councils.

The statement calls for recognition and a voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, enshrined in the constitution.

To recgonise 65,000 years of culture and have a voice on the matters that affect their communities.

These councils represent tens of thousands of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people – calling all Australians to to vote yes in the referendum.
